How to Name a Cat

Cats are amazing in athletes, training, and cleaning, but names are one of the most important things for cats! So how do you name your purr-fect BFF?

Personality Names

All cats have different personalities, which makes them unique!

Think about your cat’s personality. If your cat likes to sleep, Snooze is perfect for your friend. If your cat stretches a lot, then Stretcher is a common name for your stretchy cat! If your cat is lazy, then King or Queenie is a great name for your lazy cat, because kings and queens like to be served. Cats who scratch themselves a lot could be called Claws, Sharp, or Itch. Energetic cats would be likely named Pounce or Skipper, and also Tornado and Storm!

Happy cats suit the names Bright, Elinor, Sunny, Green, and Cuddler, because happy kitties are affectionate kitties, who could also be named Cupid, Valentina, Valentino, Heart, and Cuddles! And lastly, social cats could be named Loyal, Bumper, Follower, and Soldier. And note that Soldier, Follower, Bumper, and Loyal are for cat’s female and male.

Geographic Names

Naming your cat geographically is a great way to name him/her!

You can also name your cat geographically. For example, if your cat was originated in Egypt and is brave, you could name it Jabari. If your cat was originated in Russia, you could name it Zolotse. But you don’t have to name it by its origination. Let’s say, you were born in Pakistan, but you moved to North America. You could name it Bhoora, if it’s a senior cat. If its young, then a name like Barfi would make much more sense and cuteness. (Also, if you like eating Barfi!)

One more suggestion: If you want to name your cat that reminds you of a one-of-a-kind event, that’s purr-fectly fine! If you had a birthday party in, say, India, and your cake was cheesecake, you could name your cat Cheesecake! If you adopted your cat or kitten for a special event, some suggestions are Blackjack, (for Halloween,) Fern, (for Arbor Day), or even Twinkle or Tap, if you adopted your cat and brought him/her to a dance!

Good Eid-al-Adha names are Ahqar, Sweetie, Charwaha, (or the meaning: Shepherd!) Panje (or Claws; that’s the meaning,) Speed, or the Urdu word for Speed: Raftar! All of these are good Eid-al-Adha names for your sweet, humble kitten.

Good Eid-al-Fitr names are Tahfa, Kik, Barfi, Gulab Jamun, or any desserts you can think of. Also, go on the internet to research some good party names for your cat!

Appearance Names

All cats have different appearances; some cats are white, and some cats are orange!

Naming a cat by their appearance is also a perfect way to name them! A cat whose orange could be named Flame, while some patchy cats are commonly named Patches. Cloudy suits a grey-patched cat that’s white, and Blizzard suits a pure white cat.

Oreo is a great name for black and white cats, and Choco is lovely for a pure brown cat. But remember that the color white may change as your cat grows up, so make sure you name him/her correctly if you want to name your cat by appearance!

Also remember that appearances aren’t just the color of your cat’s fur, also the pattern, and maybe the appearance stands out somewhere else, like multi-colored eyes, you could name your cat or kitten Mixy or Rainbow, and probably Rubik!

Simple Names

A simple name like Stripes is a great name for your BFF!

Simple names like Stripes, Lily, Kevin, or Louis are good names for your cat. You can also simply name your cat after somebody. Say that you had a cat named Anna, and she was a Maine Coon. You can get another Maine Coon cat and name her Anna!

Also consider naming your cat something short like Max or Teddy. Something long like Prince William Fluffy Maine Coon the 1st is long. Just shorten it to William, Prince, or Fluffy. And simple names don’t need to be that simple. Simple names are really just names that are short and sweet, like Tiger or Janie. Not to mention Ruby, Kaleb, Bernie, and Chase are also good, simple names for your cat.

Last but not least:

Cat Naming Safety

This cat is learning about her new collar.

Consider getting your cat or kitten a collar. Cat collars are usually found in shops like Walmart but can also be homemade. Either of those two, you must introduce your cat to the collar and calmly tell him/her what it does. Collars can be made in machines in stores with the engraved name you want. Also, your address and phone number will be engraved if you want it to.

Remember that, unlike dogs, cats aren’t very used to collars. Try to train them to get used to it. Patience is key.

Well, that’s the end of our latest post! Until next time!

Goodbye!
