Cat of the Week: Havana Brown

The Havana Brown cat is such a sweetie. They love playing and being alone. And they’re also chosen to be the cat of the week!

Origin

Havana Browns originated in England. They first appeared within breeding, when a classification of breeders crossed breeding Siamese and domestic black cats. Then the Havana Brown cat appeared. This happened in the 1950’s.

Appearance

Havana Browns have red-brown coats and are very muscular. They have clear, beautiful green eyes. Their color is a rich, soft fur color which makes them very unique. And bonus, they are also called ‘Chocolate Delights’ by Havana Brown enthusiasts to point out their fur color.

Personality

Havana Browns are playful but mostly like to play with their favorite toy. They are very close to their owners and will play with them, too! Once they get used to bonding with their owners, they’ll want to stay with them forever. But this doesn’t mean that they don’t like being alone. They like being alone a little bit, but are social. They are very athletic, peculiar, and intelligent. But watch out! Because they are social, they always want to be involved in what you’re doing. If you don’t want to exclude her, give her something similar to what you’re doing!

They are also very talkative and naughty, creating an ‘interesting’ habitat. They have a good quality with other cats and dogs, and are friendly.

Diet

Like all cats, Havana Browns are carnivores. They tend to hunt themselves if let outside. But feeding your Havana Brown can be hard, so to get started, here is a list of foods they should not eat:

  • Chocolate
  • Milk
  • Grapes
  • Raisins
  • Avocados
